BESG is supporting the KwaZulu Natal Christian Council (KZNCC) in a project aimed at providing more dignified and private temporary shelter for families and people affected by floods in KZN.
The project, in particular, seeks to assist people that were accommodated in halls and churches. Because of limited funding, the shelter provided were tents for each family (accommodating five individuals), a chemical/mobile toilet and a water tank.
Thus far, over 50 tents, tanks and toilets have been handed over. The video below is of an interview with an anonymous female tent recipient who previously lived at the hall situated in Inanda (Onyazini). The tent was handed over to her on 03 August.
The allocated temporary shelters will be made available for a period of 18 months, or until government housing is provided to victims of floods.
