Rights education and policy education on housing and waste management has emerged as one of the common issues with many of the communities.
With rising unemployment and the precarious nature of work, in particular for women and youth, most workers are now located in communities.
Therefore, the space for organising at community level provides opportunities for communities to build agency, know and claim their rights, including labour rights.
Over the last six years BESG’s has had interlocking programmes of Building Sustainable Human Settlements and Promoting Good Governance and Deepening Democracy. In this short video, BESG Programs Manager Duduzile Radebe provides some insights into the projects we are working on, why they matter and where we are headed next as an organisation.
